Whole School Photo on Monday

Dear Parents,

This is just a reminder that the children must wear their #1 uniform on Monday (31st May) for the whole school photograph. Many thanks in advance!

Canadian Government and "Close-Up" Art Display

Here are some photos of our latest classroom displays. The children have been working hard studying the three levels of Canadian Government. A recent art project involved looking at extremely close-up images from the Nikon Small World Gallery http://www.nikonsmallworld.com/gallery/year/2005/9 and drawing them using pencil sketching and pencil crayons. Enjoy!

Making Naan Bread

Yesterday, Derek's mum came into 5S and led the children in making naan bread. This activity links in directly with our study of the novel, "The Breadwinner". We had an excellent discussion surrounding naan bread and how it would be made and consumed in Afghanistan. The children enjoyed making and eating the bread! Many thanks to Cathy for leading this activity.

CAMP!

The Grade 5's had an absolutely fabulous time at camp last week. They quickly settled into their cabin and activity groups and enjoyed activities such as archery, hiking, nature studies, low ropes, group initiatives, pottery, soap stone carving, and climbing wall. We had action-packed evenings with a fashion show, campfire, and capture the flag. A wonderful time was had by ALL!
